About Dr. Williams
Dr. John Williams is proud to call Texas home. Born at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, the son of an Army artillery officer, he grew up moving between military bases in the U.S. and Germany before his family settled in Killeen, where he graduated from C.E. Ellison High School.

He went on to earn a double major in Biology and Chemistry at Texas Christian University, where he served as ROTC Battalion Commander. After being selected for an educational delay from active duty, he attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. During that time, he married his wife, Chris, and together they moved to Augusta, Georgia, where Dr. Williams completed his surgical residency.

Following residency, Dr. Williams served at Fort Benning, Georgia, as a staff general surgeon, Chief of General Surgery, and later Chief of the Department of Surgery. He deployed three times—first to Iraq, then to Afghanistan with a Forward Surgical Team in a remote outpost, where he was wounded by enemy artillery in 2010 and awarded the Purple Heart. After recovering in Germany, he returned to finish his deployment with the 82nd Airborne. His third deployment again took him to Northern Afghanistan, where he worked alongside Norwegian and allied forces. With three combat tours and two young children, Dr. Williams and his family decided it was time to transition to civilian life.

In 2014, he joined the medical staff at the hospital on Rock Prairie as a general surgeon. Since then, he has served as Chief of Staff, helped train future physicians through the Texas A&M School of Medicine, and been honored multiple times, including Physician of the Year and Best Surgical Staff as voted on by medical students.

Today, Dr. Williams practices in College Station, specializing in open, laparoscopic, and robotic abdominal surgery, including gallbladder, hernia, colon, and small intestine procedures. He also has a special passion for caring for women with breast cancer. As a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, he actively participates in a weekly multidisciplinary breast cancer conference, collaborating with oncologists and radiation oncologists to ensure his patients receive the very best care.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Williams is grateful for his family, his patients, and the opportunity to serve his community—values rooted in both his Texas heritage and his years of military service.
